myQ is the smart system built into Chamberlain and LiftMaster garage door openers, which are in a huge number of American garages. The company is not going anywhere. The problem is how tightly it controls what you can do with your own opener.

The good news: Chamberlain is a giant in garage doors, so the myQ app and its servers are very likely to keep running. And your opener always works with a normal remote or wall button.
The bad news: Chamberlain has steadily closed off its system. It dropped Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant support, and in late 2023 it blocked unofficial access, which forced Home Assistant to remove its myQ integration. Reports in late 2025 said its newest openers also shut out add-on devices that many owners used to get around this.
If you own myQ
- Treat the myQ app as the only official way in, and do not count on it working with Apple Home or Google Home.
- If you want open smart home control, look at openers or add-ons that support it before you buy.
