SwitchBot started with a small robot that presses your existing light switches and buttons. It now sells curtain and blind motors, locks, sensors, hubs and robot vacuums, and its hubs add Matter support to most of them.

The good news: SwitchBot is profitable, raised about $206 million when it listed in Hong Kong at the end of 2025, and keeps growing. Its Bluetooth devices work straight from your phone, and a Hub 2 or Hub 3 can pass most of them to Apple Home, Google Home or Home Assistant through Matter.
The bad news: Remote control and voice assistants still run through SwitchBot’s cloud. In March 2026 its app disappeared from Apple’s App Store in Germany for about three weeks without explanation, which showed how much depends on one app. The company is also betting heavily on home robots, a riskier business than switches and sensors.
If you own SwitchBot
- Get a SwitchBot hub with Matter and add your devices to Apple Home, Google Home or Home Assistant, so you are not tied to one app.
- Control through Matter runs on your home network, so a SwitchBot cloud outage only affects the SwitchBot app and voice assistants.
