The good news: Leviton has made electrical products for more than a century and sells through every major US hardware store. It went back and added Matter to switches people already owned, and its Z-Wave models work with any Z-Wave hub. A smart switch is also a regular switch, so it keeps working by hand no matter what.
The bad news: Its first-generation Wi-Fi devices did not get Matter, so they still depend on the My Leviton app and cloud.
If you own Leviton
- If you have 2nd-gen Wi-Fi switches, install the Matter update and add them to Apple Home, Google Home or Home Assistant.
- For new installs, pick Matter or Z-Wave models over Wi-Fi-only ones.
