The good news: Ecovacs is a large, established company with robots in millions of homes and a steady stream of new models. Even if its cloud went down, the robots can still clean from their buttons.
The bad news: In October 2024, people in several US cities reported their Deebot X2 robots being taken over, with strangers watching through the camera and shouting insults through the speaker. The flaw had been reported to Ecovacs a year earlier, and its first response was slow.
