The good news: Comcast is one of the biggest US internet providers and keeps investing in home security, with Xfinity Shield launched in August 2026. Existing customers can keep their current plans.

The bad news: Everything depends on an Xfinity plan. If you cancel or move to another internet provider, the equipment is of little use.

If you own Xfinity Home

  • Check whether your plan is still offered, since Comcast is moving new customers to Xfinity Shield.
  • Ask what happens to your equipment before canceling or moving.
