The good news: Ultraloq was early with Matter over Thread, so its newer locks work with Apple Home, Google Home and other systems without U-tec’s app. The fingerprint reader and keypad always work at the door.
The bad news: U-tec is a small company and shares little about its finances. Older Wi-Fi and Bluetooth models depend on its app for remote features.

- Pick a Matter model if you want to control the lock without U-tec’s app.
- Keep the backup key and fresh batteries, since a dead battery is the most common lockout.
