The good news: IKEA is huge, its smart products are cheap, and they run locally through the hub in your home. Older IKEA bulbs and remotes carried over to the new Dirigera hub, and Matter lets you use them with Apple Home, Google Home or Home Assistant.
The bad news: When IKEA launched Dirigera, its new app only worked with the new hub, so owners of the older Trådfri gateway had to buy new hardware to keep up.
If you own IKEA Home smart
- If you still use a Trådfri gateway, moving to Dirigera gets you the current app and Matter.
- Add your devices to Apple Home, Google Home or Home Assistant through Matter, so you are not tied to IKEA’s app.
