The good news: Meross keeps adding Matter to its range, even to some plugs that were already on the market. Devices you control through Matter or Apple Home do not need Meross’s servers, so they would keep working if the company disappeared.
The bad news: Meross is a small private company and shares little about its finances. Older Wi-Fi models without Matter or Apple Home support depend fully on the Meross app and cloud.
If you own Meross
- Pick the Matter or Apple Home versions when you buy, and add them to your main smart home app.
- Home Assistant can control many Meross devices over your own network, without Meross’s cloud.
