The good news: Nvidia has supported the Shield for about ten years, longer than almost any other streaming device. It also plays local media without the internet.

The bad news: There has been no new Shield model since 2019, so Nvidia could stop updates once it moves on.

If you own Nvidia Shield

  • Install updates when they arrive.
  • Use it for local media too, which does not depend on any cloud.
