The good news: Sense has promised to keep supporting monitors people already own, with app and firmware updates, security fixes and customer support. Its app also lives on through utility smart meters, so the service itself is not going away.
The bad news: A company that stopped selling a product has much less reason to keep supporting it for years. Everything a Sense monitor does depends on Sense’s cloud, so if support ends, the monitor stops being useful.
If you own Sense
- Export your energy data from time to time, so you keep it whatever happens.
- If you buy a new energy monitor, look for one that works locally, for example with Home Assistant.
